Toon Disney Nets Spider-Man, Expands JETIX Block

Beginning Saturday, June 26, Toon Disney expands its new JETIX action/adventure evening block to four hours on Saturdays and Sundays. The block, which will now air from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., will also feature the 1995 animated Spider-Man series in the 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. slot.

“Since its launch in February, JETIX has established itself as a dynamic, prime-time destination for kids. This great success has allowed us to expand the weekend JETIX block sooner than we had planned, to take advantage of kids’ summer schedules,” says Jonathan Barzilay, senior VP and general manager of ABC Kids and Toon Disney. “We look forward to expanding the weekday block this fall when we welcome two original JETIX series: Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! and Dragon Booster.”

Since its February 2004 premie, JETIX has delivered ratings growth in target demos (kids 6-11, boys 2-11 and boys 6-11) compared to the same time period one year ago.

The 1995 animated Spider-Man series, exec produced by property creator Stan Lee and Marvel’s Avi Arad, features the voice of Emmy Award-winning actor Edward Asner and special guest turns by Malcolm McDowell, Mark Hamill and Martin Landau. Toon Disney adds the show to its lineup jut in time to capitalize on the Spidey mania surrounding the July 2 release of Sony’s live-action sequel, Spider-Man 2.
