Cartoon Network will add the new music-infused anime series Rave Master to its Toonami lineup on Saturday, June 5, at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT. Gold-selling ska band Reel Big Fish and other artists from the music industry provide the beats for the magical action series based on TOKYOPOPs line of Manga titles from Hiro Mashima.
Rave Master follows the journey of Haru Glory as he discovers he has been destined to save the world from evil. Joined by Plue and Elie, our young hero must travel to some wild places, each bringing him one step closer to retrieving all four of the powerful Rave Stones, which he will need to defeat the malevolent Shadow Guard.
The series features veteran anime voice actors Yuri Lowenthal (Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Rocket Power) as Haru Glory, Michelle Ruff (Rurouni Kenshin) as Elie, Doug Erholtz (SD Gundam Force, Digimon) as Musica and Mona Marshall (.hack, Love Hina) as Plue.
Mashima created the Manga series in 1998 when he was only 21. The property has since spawned 18 volumes, two console games and three guidebooks.
Toonami, Cartoon Network’s popular Saturday night action-anime programming block, airs from 7-11 p.m. ET/PT and features such hit shows as Dragon Ball GT, Gundam Seed, Yu Yu Hakusho and Cartoon Network’s newest original series, Megas XLR.
