The Visual Effects Society will present “Finding and Keeping a Job in Today’s Visual Effects Industry,” on Saturday, May 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Los Angeles Film School, located at 6363 Sunset Boulevard Hollywood, Calif.
The day’s events will include four panel sessions, each addressing employment issues specific to a particular segment within the Visual Effects Industry. They are: Visual Effects for Feature Films (hosted by Sony Pictures Imageworks), Computer Animated Feature Films (hosted by DreamWorks SKG), Visual Effects in the Game Industry (hosted by Electronic Arts) and Visual Effects for Broadcast (Panelists to be announced.)
A fifth panel, moderated by recruiter/hiring strategist and career coach Pamela Thompson, will address general issues such as hiring strategies, career growth, freelancing, independent studios (effects for ride films, commercials and television) and legal matters.
Resumes are welcome. The participating companies will also be present to discuss current employment opportunities within their companies. This event is free and open to professionals in the film, television, and gaming industries.
