Montreal-based animation software maker Toon Boom announced that renowned French animation studio Je Suis Bien Content has picked Toon Boom Harmony to produce its Jacques Tardi-based feature A Rigged World, as well as a deal with Adrylan on a web-based application used to create, manage, and report on local assessments in K–12 schools and higher education institutions.
Je Suis Bien Content, a studio founded by by Marc Jousset and Franck Ekinci, is adapting the work of Tardi — author and creator of one of French comics’ most famous heroines, Adèle Blanc-Sec, along with several books on World War I — in A Rigged World. The feature is set in 19th century France, under the control of Napoleon VI and the Steamer, and scientists are mysteriously disappearing and a young girl named April sets off to find her scientist parents.
Produced by Je Suis Bien Content and Studio Canal in France, Kaibou in Canada, and Need Productions in Belgium, this animated feature is currently undergoing the animation production process using Toon Boom Harmony.
Toon Boom’s deal with Adrylan, makers of the Educator’s Assessment Data Management System web-based application, offers easy-to-use, powerful creative tools that students use to demonstrate their understanding of any subject matter from the common core, while supporting the development of important skills, such as critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration.
Now fully and seamlessly integrated into the EADMS platform, Toon Boom’s tools enhance student outcomes and academic achievement, while decreasing dropout rates due to greater interest and engagement in core subjects by students.
At the higher education level, students with advanced knowledge of Toon Boom’s professional tools have the ability to produce personal portfolios when applying to leading art schools. The integration into the EADMS platform facilitates the assessment of their knowledge of animation principles and technology, fast tracking feedback on their performance and better preparing them for the marketplace.
“Having student achievements and success at the core of our mission makes our collaboration with Adrylan a natural extension of our work. We look forward to seeing how educators will maximize the use of both our technologies for the benefits of their students, regardless of their education level,” said Joan Vogelesang, president and chief executive officer of Toon Boom.
