Roland Poindexter has been named Sr. VP, Action-Adventure Properties for Warner Bros. Animation. In this newly created position, Poindexter will be charged with spearheading all aspects of Warner Bros. Animation’s creative development of action-adventure properties for broadcast, cable and made-for-video outlets.

Reporting directly to Warner Bros. Animation president Sander Schwartz, Poindexter will also be responsible for supervising creative direction of selected current series in all genres and developing animated specials for kids, as well as adults. He will draw from more than 12 years experience in television programming and creative direction, during which he developed two Emmy Award-winning and six number-one-rated kids’ series.

Prior to joining Warner Bros. Animation, Poindexter served for two years as VP of programming and entertainment for Black Entertainment Television, where he produced How I’m Living and other reality programs for the cable network’s prime-time schedule. Before that, he served as VP of development for Eruptor.com, an online entertainment destination for teens.

Poindexter joined Fox Kids as director of programming in 1993 and was named VP/head of programming in 1998. During his tenure there, he served as principal creative executive for Godzilla: The Series, NASCAR Racers and Spiderman: Unlimited, and principal development and production exec. for Where on Earth Is Carmen Sandiego?, C-Bear & Jamal and The Adventures of Batman and Robin. Before joining Fox Kids, Poindexter worked as manager of development for Nelvana Ent., having started his career in creative development with ABC.
