San Francisco-based One Six Eight Design Group is a regular contributor to Live with Regis and Kelly, particularly around Sweeps Week. During the past year Buena Vista Television has commissioned the company to produce a series of promo elements, graphics and animations designed to spotlight special programming highlights for the popular morning show.
Working on tight production schedules that are often limited to a week, One Six Eight has done on-air graphics and animation for everything from Wedding Week to prom dress specials and a campaign promoting a Hunkiest Husband Pagent. Most recently, the studio worked on a rush assignment for a Puerto Rico Getaway promotion.
“I just completed a Messy Mate Makeover promo campaign,” says One Six Eight art director Anne Maroon. “That was fun for a couple of reasons. I was able to draw on personal experience for inspiration and even managed to include a cartoon cameo of my dog, Sarah, wagging her tail as a chaotic living room is magically put in tip-top order.”
Once Maroon and creative director Brad Soderlund have developed basic elements, One Six Eight animator Jeff Jankens utilizes After Effects to bring the concepts to life. When the graphics are complete, the team sends them off to Buena Vista where they’re cut into promos and ID packages.
San Francisco-based One Six Eight Design Group’s executive team includes president Jan Phillips, creative director Brad Soderlund, art director Anne Maroon, sr. producer Lynnette Brawer and animator Jeff Jankens. Since it was formed in 1999, the company has created on-air graphics for such high-profile clients as HBO, National Geographic Channel, Paramount Domestic Television and NBC’s Dateline and Today shows.
