Mariah Carey Joins Proud Family

If you missed last week’s animated debut of pop diva Mariah Carey on Disney Channel’s The Proud Family, you can catch it tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. In the episode, Oscar Proud’s monkey is switched with someone else’s at Dr. Trudy Proud’s veterinarian office. The owner of the other monkey turns out to be none other than Carey. The episode will repeat on October 26.

Last year, the Proud Family was visited by up-and-coming pop artist Solange Knowles. The younger sister of chart topper Byoncé Knowles lent her voice to Penny’s snotty cousin Chanel for an episode revolving around a chaotic family gathering. Other luminaries from the world of hip-hop and R&B who made appearances in episodes include Ashanti and Alicia Keys.

The Proud Family chronicles the life of 14-year-old Penny Proud as she copes with her family, friends and school. The producers have been regularly courting guest stars from the music industry since an early episode featuring the voice of Lil’ Romeo garnered the series’ highest ratings.
