Visual-effects house Gravity has opened a West Coast office in the Lantana Center in Santa Monica to create visual effects for film and television productions.

The company, formerly known as RhinoFX, has tapped VP of features and TV Karin Levinson to head up the office. She will report to Zviah Eldar, CEO and chief creative officer.

The expansion launches as the sole visual effects vendor on the feature film Crazy, Stupid, Love, set for release in April and starring Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore and Emma Stone.

Gravity’s credits include the feature films Salt, The Other Guys, The Reader, Soul Men, Ghost Town, Adjustment Bureau, Cop Out, Arthur, The Nanny Diaries and the HBO TV series Bored to Death, Sex and the City and The Sopranos.
