VFX plug-in maker GenArts and Lucasfilm have expanded their longstanding partnership.

Under the agreement, GenArts software will be used for compositing at all Lucasfilm companies, including ILM and Lucasfilm Animation.

The companies also will exchange ideas for advancing visual effects and explore areas for using GenArts in other ways in the creation of movies, TV shows, animation, games and other media.

‘GenArts software delivers incredible consistency for the artists’ experience across a wide range of compositing systems,’ said Richard Kerris, CTO of Lucasfilm. ‘This makes it the ideal choice to help Lucasfilm achieve our goal to deliver visual continuity across feature films, television, games and future entertainment mediums.’

Founded in 1996, GenArts software has contributed to the production of dozens of Lucasfilm projects including the Star Wars prequels, the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy and Iron Man.
