L.A.-based vfx powerhouse Digital Domain will intergrate Luxology modo’s new subdivisioin surface and polygonal modeling toolset into its production pipeline. The Oscar-winning vfx facility (Titanic, The Day After Tomorrow, I, Robot) went with modo’s modeling toolset because of its robust 3D modeling capabilities, intuitive workflow and seamless pipeline integration.

"As one of the world’s top visual effects studios, it’s crucial that we employ powerful tools that allow us to stay on the technological edge, without compromising on creativity," says Darin Grant, director of technology at Digital Domain. "modo’s entirely new code base and artist-friendly workflow fit our needs and production pipeline perfectly."

Digital Domain is using modo on the upcoming feature film Stealth, as well as commercial spots for Disney, Michelin and Heineken, according to Grant. Modo is available now through Luxology and its worldwide partners. The product ships on a single disc supporting both Mac OS X and Windows, and sells for a suggested retail price of $895, with an introductory price of $695. For more info, visit www.modo3d.com.
