The dog days of summer got off to a good start for Cartoon Network. In the first week of August, the net was in first place in all ad-supported cable in both total day and prime time delivery of kids 2-11 and kids 6-11, according to television ratings data from Nielsen Media Research.
In addition, CN extended its primetime winning streak to nine consecutive weeks with kids 6-11 (up 12% to 745,000) and kids 2-11 (up 12% to 1,233,000). For total day, CN averaged 882,000 kids 2-11 (up 22%) and 552,000 kids 6-11 (up 16%). This marks Cartoon Network’s best total day performance of the year among kids 6-11, boys 6-11 and girls 6-11. It was also Cartoon Network’s best week in prime time this year among kids 6-11 and girls 6-11.
There was also good news on the adult front. Thanks primarily to its Adult Swim block, CN earned a third-place ranking for total-day delivery of adults 18-34 (256,000) for the second consecutive week. The three-hour late-night franchise (Sunday through Thursday, 11 p.m.-2 a.m.) scored the top ranking in its time period on all of ad-supported cable with adults 18-24, adults 18-34, men 18-34 and men 18-24.
