Boston-based, artist-owned-and-operated commercial visual effects house Brickyard VFX has officially thrown its hat into the Los Angeles market. The company formalized its West Coast expansion today with the opening of Brickyard VFX Pacific in Santa Monica.
Brickyard VFX works closely with top advertising agencies, including Arnold Worldwide and Hill Holliday, on campaigns for Volkswagen, Coors, Fidelity and other leading brands. Notable projects include Budweiser’s SuperBowl spot "Replay" and VW’s "Squares," which won a Gold Lion at Cannes.
The Santa Monica-based operation is co-owned by Steve Michaels, co-founder of Method Studios and former CEO of 525 Post in Hollywood; Patrick Poulatian, a music video and commercial effects artist also formerly of 525; and Geoff McAuliffe and Dave Waller, co-owners and artists at Brickyard VFX Atlantic. Rounding out the Brickyard VFX team are producer Diana Young and VFX artist George Fitz in Santa Monica and exec. producer Brian Drewes, producer Kirsten Andersen and artists Robin Hobart and Peter Bullis in Boston.
