Avid’s Alienbrain Studio 7 Plugs into Maya 6

Avid Technology Inc. today announced the availability of an upgraded plug-in designed to provide smooth integration between the company’s award-winning digital asset management software, Alienbrain Studio 7, and Alias’ Maya 6 3D animation solution. According to Avid, the integration enables content creators to access Alienbrain Studio’s asset management features directly from the Maya 6 software user interface and manage their artwork with greater efficiency.

"The massive volume of graphical content being created today for game and film projects demands that studio pipelines have an efficient way to track and store their 3D and related assets," says Bob Bennett, general manager of product management for Alias. "The upgraded Alienbrain integration for Maya 6 will ensure a secure means of managing Maya artists’ digital assets."

Using the Alienbrain plug-in for Maya 6, customers can work in the secure, version-controlled environment of Alienbrain Studio 7 without leaving the familiar Maya interface. An integrated Alienbrain menu enables artists to navigate projects and files stored on Alienbrain servers, check the workflow status of their artwork and drag and drop models and textures into their workspaces. The upgraded Alienbrain Studio 7 Reference Manager provides an instant overview of scenes and related files in both the Maya 6 and Alienbrain Studio 7 client applications, simplifying the tracking and accessing of dependent files, such as models and their related textures.

The Alienbrain plug-in for Maya 6 can be downloaded at no cost from the Alienbrain user forum at www.forum.alienbrain.com. For more information on Alienbrain Studio 7, go to www.alienbrain.com. For Maya 6 pricing and availability, see www.alias.com/Maya.
