The Woodlies Movie, a special feature-length episode of the popular 2D series, will be broadcast on Australia’s Seven Network on Saturday, February 23 at 12 p.m. The special will round off the lively adventure series for kids 6-12, The Woodlies, which ran on the network last year. Already sold to ZDF and Universum for theatrical and home release in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, The Woodlies Movie was produced by The Woodlies Pty Ltd with the assistance of Flying Bark Productions and in association with Telegael Teoranta.

“I am thrilled the Seven Network has chosen to follow up the successful broadcast of The Woodlies series with this adventure filled feature length episode,” says Flying Bark’s managing director Jim Ballantine. “With its unique blend of animation and relevant, age appropriate themes, The Woodlies has really resonated with audiences in Australia and internationally. Locally the series performed well for the Seven Network and on Germany’s KI.KA, the series aired in the primetime slot of 7 p.m. and enjoyed over a million viewers per episode.”

The Woodlies Movie is billed as a tale of tolerance and survival and features the small, troll-like Woodlies—Nineyes, Firehead and Sevenpoints—who live in harmony alongside the human ‘uglies’. To prepare for autumn they set out to scavenge food from a nearby camp ground, but a menacing rival gang of Woodlies known as the Swamp Rats lurking in a nearby swamp also have food on their minds. Produced with support of the investment incentives for the Irish Film Industry provided by the Government of Ireland; financed in association with Screen NSW. Based on the novel No Cookies for Troll by Cornelia Funke (published by S. Fischer Verlag).
