The return of Voltron is an electric ratings hit.

The June 16 premiere of the 90-minute movie Voltron Force: New Defenders Trilogy set a record as the network’s highest-rated series premiere in all key children’s, tween and boys demographics.

The debut also posted solid double- and triple-digit increases over last year’s like time period with kids 6-11 (up 53 percent) and boys 6-11 (up 113 percent).

Voltron’s return combined with solid ratings for SpongeBob SquarePants to make Nickelodeon cable’s top network in total day with viewers (2.3 million), kids 2-11 (3.6/1.3 million) and kids 2-5 (3.7/539,000).

Based on the classic 1980s TV series, Voltron Force continues as a half-hour series set to air regularly on Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET on Nicktoons.
