University Games, JP Kids Form New Children’s Media Company

Educational board game manufacturer University Games has merged with children’s and family media company JP Kids/Mindrocket Media, which will become a wholly owned subsidiary of University Games, operating out of its offices in San Francisco. The combined company will create converged intellectual properties for multiple media platforms such as television, games, toys and books.

University Games has divisions devoted to games, puzzles, pre-school activities and publishing. The company’s media division currently publishes books and calendars based on the company’s most successful franchises, such as 20 Questions, 30 Second Mysteries and Truth or Dare.

JP Kids created the Disney Channel hit series The Famous Jett Jackson. The company is currently developing Gordy’s Rebellion with Viacom’s Noggin/The N, and Seuss Tales, a preschool television series based on characters and settings from 15 Dr. Seuss books. Seuss Tales will be broadcast on PBS affiliate WTTW National Productions/Chicago and distributed to PBS via American Public Television (APT).

Mindrocket Media currently has live action, animated, and reality television series in development with U.K producer Granada Kids, WTTW National Productions/Chicago and VIACOM’s Noggin/The N.
