The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Tribune Ent. will handle TV syndication sales for DreamWorks SKG’s film library. The deal covers 34 films released since the studio was formed in 1994, including the hit animated flicks Shrek and Chicken Run.
Other titles included in the package are Oscar winners American Beauty, Gladiator, Saving Private Ryan and Road to Perdition, as well as the thrillers Minority Report and What Lies Beneath. Future DreamWorks releases do not fall under the agreement, which veteran syndication exec. Bob Jacquemin negotiated on behalf of DreamWorks.
WGN Superstation and other Tribune Broadcasting stations in 22 top TV markets will carry the package beginning in the fall of 2006. DreamWorks’ films have generated more than $6 billion at the box office worldwide.
