Cartoon Network is adding three new anime series to the line up on its highly rated late night animation block known as Adult Swim. Lupin the Third will air Monday through Thursday at 12 midnight (ET, PT) beginning Monday, Jan. 13. Programming information for both Reign and Trigun will be announced at a later date.
Lupin the Third follows the adventures of the greatest thief in the world, a globetrotting gentleman crook aided by an expert marksman and a samurai master. Along the way, he must help damsels in distress while staying one step ahead of Inspector Zenigata and a beautiful but dangerous rival thief.
Trigun takes place in the distant future on a deserted planet where legendary and feared gunfighter Vash the Stampede has a $60,000,000,000 bounty on his head. Among other things, the show explores how legends aren’t always what they’re cracked up to be.
Reign is a 21st century science-fiction retelling of the legend of Macedonian king Alexander the Great, arguably the world’s most powerful warrior.
The new shows join a full slate of hit programming which includes Futurama, Home Movies, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Cowboy Bebop InuYasha and Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law. Adult Swim will begin airing five times per week beginning Sunday, January 12. 2003.
