Studio B Prods., in conjunction with The Family Channel, developing a new animated series based on the Tribune comic strip, Annie. The show updates the character for tweens with a twelve-year-old Annie who wears hipper clothes and combats criminal masterminds around the world.
While Zillionaire adoptive father Daddy Warbucks is busy attending to business, Annie flies around the world with pilot pal Amelia Santiago and sidekick Thom Short. Their adventures take them to such exotic locales as China and South America as they fight crime and discover lost civilizations.
Created by cartoonist Harold Gray, the original Little Orphan Annie strip first appeared in newspapers in August of 1924. Over the years, the property has spawned a long-running broadway musical and several live-action TV and theatrical films. Studio B is producing 26 22-minute episodes of the new animated series, to be executive produced with The Mischel Co. and Goodman/Rosen Prods.
