A new lineup of top NFL players will get animated into toon form for a new short-form series called Rush Zone: Guardians of the Core that premieres on Nicktoons Sept. 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

The 22-episode series will feature the animated liknesses and voices of Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals, Brian Dawkins of the Denver Broncos, Steven Jackson of the St. Louis Rams, Calvin Johnson of the Detroit Lions, head coach Norv Turner of the San Diego Chargers, Hall of Fame running back Marcus Allen and NFL personalities Shannon Sharpe and Bob Papa. Eli Manning of the New York Giants and head coach Sean Payton of the New Orleans Saints were previously announced.

With episodes running two to five minutes each, the series is based on NFL Rush Zone, the NFL’s online world for kids, and will regularly air Mondays at 8 p.m. ET during the NFL season. It will culminate with an hour-long movie comprised of the first 21 episodes and the premiere of the final episode on Feb. 5, a day prior to Super Bowl XLV.

The series will feature NFL game footage, and will be available on NFL Network, Nicktoons.com and NFLRUSH.com, the NFL’s official website for kids, following its premiere on Nicktoons. All 32 NFL teams will be represented in Rush Zone, which has been created in high definition for use on Jumbotrons in NFL stadiums across the country.
