Legendary Marvel comic book creator Stan Lee is partnering with DIC Ent. to produce original animated superhero TV properties. A slate of projects dubbed The Stan Lee Universe will be a joint venture between DIC and POW! Ent., an entity formed by Lee, his producing partner Gill Champion and business strategist Arthur Lieberman.
Lee, the co-creator of such hugely successful properties as Spider-Man, X-Men, Daredevil and The Hulk, will also star in the first series to be produced under the agreement. Stan Lee’s The Secret of the Super Six is a superhero-based animated series with a humanitarian component that will feature Lee as a main character.
Stan Lee’s The Secret of the Super Six will follow the adventures of a group of super-powered, genetically engineered alien teens stranded on Earth, where they are befriended by a reclusive cartoonist. Stan Lee must become the sixth member in order to help this unlikely band of heroes as they adjust to life on this strange new planet and battle powerful forces on Earth and from their home planet that seek to attack or exploit them.
DIC has retained the rights to distribute the properties worldwide and is currently negotiating licensing relationships for the new brand.
Meanwhile, Lee may find himself embroiled in another legal battle. Daytona Beach exotic dancer Janet Clover has filed a suit claiming she suggested the idea for Lee’s new TNN animated series, Stripperella, during a lap dance.
