C21media.net reports that Andy Rheingold, former head of development and production for the Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants, has been tapped by Broadway Video Enterprises to adapt the Taiwanese martial arts series Thunder Force for the international market.
To bring the long-popular series to a wider audience, Broadway Video, the worldwide TV, licensing, merchandising and home video rights holder, struck a deal with Asian rights holder Distant Horizon and Ben Silverman, founder of the recently launched Reveille. Silverman will serve as co-executive producer.
The show, aimed at boys 6-11, will be developed for the international market by producer Eleanor Kearney, whose credits include the Emmy-winning PBS series Long Ago and Far Away and the Kids’ WB! animated series Ace Ventura, Pet Detective.
