SpongeBob Collector’s DVD to Swim in the Fall

Can’t get enough of the happy-go-lucky yellow sea sponge? Then mark your calendar for Sept. 22. That’s when Nickelodeon Home Ent. will release SpongeBob SquarePants: The First 100 Episodes DVD set. The $99.98 set is marketed as the first SpongeBob collector’s edition and will include over 36 hours of episodes, bonus features, games and commentary from superstar creator Stephen Hillenburg and the voice of SpongeBob, Tom Kenny.

Last Friday, a well-promoted episode of the show featuring guest voice Johnny Depp drew in 5.8 million viewers and was cable TV’s No. 2-ranked show for the whole week. Nick is planning a huge media blitz to mark the 10th anniversary of the show in July.

“What’s been so cool for me is how this character resonates with people and has become part of pop culture,’ Kenny told USA Today. It’s been a surreal experience a lot of actors don’t get to have.”
