Animalada, a 3D animation studio located in Uruguay, continues to push the envelope for South American animation. The company has developed and is marketing its second TV series, No Me Moleste Mosquito (Don’t Bother Me, Mosquito). Animalada has emerged as a premiere producer for local and regional markets and is not trying to break into the international scene and the feature film arena.
No Me Moleste Mosquito pits human sufferers against some of the most bothersome insects in the world in a classic showdown between man and beast. Toss in a cute, furry dog with pink highlights, and you’ve got a gag comedy series for the whole family.
The studio’s first TV series, a family soccer comedy titled Pelotazo!, consists of one-minute interstitials that have well-meaning team captain Walter Lang foiled at every attempt at winning a game. The pilot episode can be downloaded at www.animalada.com/pelotazo.htm. More information about both series can be found at www.animalada.com/products.htm.
Animalada is also working on an ambitious project that will be Latin America’s first completely computer-animated movie. No further information on the feature has been released at this time.
