Juniper Content Corp.’s Sorpresa! network has acquired exclusive U.S. broadcast rights to BouncyNet Inc.’s Mexican children’s program El Reto Burundis and its two animated movies, Enredos y Maranas and Navidad con Angel. The three-year deal will see the programs air on the Sorpresa! network in the afternoons beginning in October.
Created by BouncyNet CEO Enrique Altamirano, El Reto Burundis is a popular gameshow that combines human performers and animated characters. Intended for kids 6-12, the program will be distributed to the Sorpresa! digital community through sorpresatv.com, and will be offered to other platforms in the U.S. as well. The success of the show in Mexico has allowed for the launch of branded products including merchandizing, home video titles, comics, a music CD and numerous licensed products.
Sorpresa! is offered on Cablevision, Charter, Comcast, Cox, Time Warner, Verizon and The National Cable TV Cooperative. The network is also available through third-party mobile and broadband platforms such as Verizon’s FiOS and Brightcove; as video-onn-demand through Akimbo, AOL TV, MSN, and AT&T Homezone; and on a mobile basis through MobiTV, which provides Spanish-language video services to Sprint and AT&T Wireless.
