Vancouver-based animation studio Slap Happy Cartoons will produce a series of animated shorts for Canadian pubcaster Knowledge Network. The project will feature the network’s popular characters Luna, Chip and Inkie, part of the cabler’s commercial-free children’s block from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The three playful, and quirky young animal characters learn through play as they explore and discover the world around them.

“As a father of two young kids, I know first-hand how funny and engaging these characters are,” said Josh Mepham, Partner at Slap Happy Cartoons. “We’re honored Knowledge Kids has entrusted us with expanding their world, and in helping to provide preschoolers a safe place to learn, explore and be entertained.”

Founded by Kathy Rocchio, Greg Sullivan, Josh Mepham and Vito Viscomi, Slap Happy Cartoons has offices in Vancouver, B.C. and Los Angeles, Calif. The shop’s clients include Comedy Central, Kids WB!, DHX Media, Canucks Sports and Entertainment, Disney XD, and YTV. For more info, visit  www.SlapHappyCartoons.com and www.knowledgekids.ca.
