Rudolph Flies to the U.K with New Deals

The stop-motion Rankin and Bass classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is the No. 1 holiday special on primetime TV and at home video retailers in the U.S. Now the property is set to charm the U.K. like never before as New York-based family entertainment company Classic Media expands broadcast and home video distribution in the region.

Classic Media has signed exclusive deals with British television giant the BBC and the U.K.’s leading independent home video distributor, Mosaic Ent. Rudolph is scheduled to air on the BBC this December and will be available on DVD and VHS for the first time ever in the U.K beginning this fall.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer has been part of the American family holiday tradition since 1964, making it the longest-running and highest-rated network holiday special of all time. The special currently airs on CBS in the U.S. and on the CBC in Canada. Since debuting on DVD in 2000, it has been selling in the millions annually and appears on the Billboard home video best-sellers list every year.
