Red Kite Loched and Loaded for Nessie Short

Red Kite studios is currently in production on The Loch Ness Kelpie, an animated short commissioned by BBC Alba and CCG for the Animated Tales of the World series by S4C. Directed by Iain Gardner, the film will combine traditional drawn animation with digital technology. Animators are being recruited.

The Scottish tale centers on the mythical Kelpie and a young Highland boy, Ewan, who attempts to outwit the creature. Acclaimed Gaelic writer Angus Peter Campbell penned the script.

Airing on HBO Family in the U.S., Animated Tales of the World involves 13 countries worldwide. Red Kite’s contribution will represent Scotland, where all financing was raised by the CCG and Scottish Screen. Producer Mary Morrison is preparing to go into production at the start of next year.
