Children’s and youth media entertainment company Prism Ent. has been commissioned by Nickelodeon Europe to produce three local versions of its unique animated series, The Nickelodeon Family, which will follow the animated adventures of a real family. Prism’s work will be broadcast on Nick channels in Spain, Benelux and Scandinavia.
All three territory-specific versions of the series will start airing in Europe at the end of this year. Prism Ent. managing directors Myke Crosby and Amelia Johnson will executive produce the shows with Nancy Gold as Head Animator and Illustrator.
Following a national competition-based search in each of the three territories, an actual family will be chosen to star in their very own cartoon series to be animated in 2D by Prism. A series of comedy-driven storylines will be written around the family members’ particular habits and pastimes.
Jules Borkent, senior director of programming, acquisitions and development for Nickelodeon Europe and Africa, comments, "Everyone would love to be the star of their own animation series, and now Nickelodeon is making that dream possible. It’s a really compelling concept which will appeal to viewers across the spectrum while making fascinating viewing that’s relevant to the marketplace. The format successfully translates across borders and languages, and we look forward to rolling out to other Nickelodeon channels around the world in the near future."
