After delighting kids around the world for 20 years, Postman Pat is back with a new series that has sold in more than 50 countries worldwide. Most recently, the show has been picked up by Rai Sat in Italy, where it will go by the title Picchiettio del Postino.
Rai Sat will begin airing the stop-motion animated series in spring or summer of 2005. Licensed merchandise will roll out in the territory beginning in the fall or winter 2005. The show will first debut on CBeebies later this year.
The new Postman Pat is licensed by Entertainment Rights Plc, one of the U.K.’s leading media groups specializing in the ownership of children’s and family programming, characters and brands. Other popular properties include the puppet show Basil Brush and the stop-motion series Little Red Tractor. The company also holds rights to Mattel’s Barbie, Scholastic’s Clifford, Hasbro’s Transformers, Casper the Friendly Ghost and Felix the Cat.
