The airwaves may be dominated by Christmas cartoons during the month of December, but Nickelodeon is all about equal time as its Nickmas holiday programming spree continues with two specials that celebrate the Jewish holiday of Chanukah.
Tonight at 8:30 p.m., the cabler airs As Told by Ginger "An Even Steven Holiday Special," in which Ginger learns that she is one-quarter Jewish and insists on celebrating Chanukah as well as Christmas. Her duplicitous plans become problematic, however, when best friend Dodie worries that the “Jewish Ginger” is shutting her out. Also, Hoodsey sets out to convince a disbelieving Carl that Santa Claus exists and unwittingly brings about a small holiday miracle.
There’s more menorah lighting Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. as Nick airs the Rugrats Chanukah Special. Tommy, Chuckie, Angela and rest of the gang attend an annual Chanukah festival where Tommy’s Grandpa Boris and his old rival Shlomo perform in a play about the meaning of the holiday. The trouble starts when the tykes think the play is real and set out to protect Grandpa from the Chanukah "meany," though their efforts ultimately help to reconcile the relationship between Boris and Schlomo.
In other Nick news, Daily Variety reports that the network has ordered 22 more episodes of the Rugrats spinoff All Grown Up, which debuted last month and became Nick’s highest-rated premiere ever. The show airs Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m.
Also getting the call for additional episodes are the popular series The Fairly OddParents, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Chalk Zone and The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, which occupy Nick’s Friday Night 8:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. toon block.
