Toronto-based family entertainment house Nelvana will be joining forces with Canuck cabler TELETOON in a new home entertainment venture. The new banner label–called TELETOON Presents– will have an on-air, print and web promotional components.
The animated series, My Dad the Rock Star, which features the voice of Gene Simmons of KISS fame, is pegged as the venture’s first release, slated for a retail release on April 4. Other Nelvana titles to get the TELETOON Presents treatment include: Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends, 6Teen, Delta State, Clone High, Braceface, Pippi Longstocking and Tales from the Cryptkeeper.
"We took a look at series in our library that were airing on TELETOON, but had never been released on home video," notes Nelvana’s VP of Home Entertainment Peter Maule. "We wanted to leverage our long-standing relationship with TELETOON and its brand awareness to develop with a synergistic approach to launching new properties on video and DVD."
"Canada has one of the most advance home video markets in the world and we are pleased to provide our fans with a new format to watch their favorite TELETOON character" says Leslie Krueger, TELETOON’s head of marketing and promotions.
