Viewers who tuned into NBC for last night’s broadcast of Last Comic Standing were treated to a sneak peek at DreamWorks’ upcoming primetime animated series, Father of the Pride.
In Father of the Pride, scheduled to join the lineup this fall, John Goodman will voice Larry, the patriarch of a family of white lions employed in Siegfried and Roy’s Las Vegas magic act. Also on board for the voice cast are Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Orlando Jones (Drumline) and comedy legend Carl Reiner (Ocean’s 11).
Late Night with Conan O’Brien alum Jonathan Groff and DreamWorks partner Jeffrey Katzenberg are exec producing, along with Jon Pollack (Just Shoot Me). The Simpsons and King of the Hill director Klay Hall is supervising production.
Many expected the series to get shelved when Roy Horn of Siegfried and Roy was mauled by one the duo’s white tigers on stage late last year. But as they say in the circus, the show must go on, especially if you already have millions of dollars sunk into an ambitious project like this.
The series is slated to air at 9 p.m./8 p.m. central on Tuesdays. If you missed the TV promo, you can check out the animation online at http://www.nbc.com/nbc/Primetime_Preview_04_05/new_shows.shtml.
