National Geographic Develops Animated Comedy

Best known for its stunningly photographed monthly magazine and award-winning wildlife documentaries, National Geographic is getting into the animation biz. Kids’ Programming and Production, a division of National Geographic Television & Film (NGT&F), has signed Paul Rugg and Adam Taylor to develop an animated comedy series for kids 6-11.

A Peabody award winner and three-time Emmy award winner, Rugg is an accomplished writer, producer, composer and voice actor whose credits include Animaniacs, One Saturday Morning, Freakazoid! and Tiny Toons Adventures.

Taylor and his father, Robert Taylor Jr., are the principals of the father/son-owned Taylor Entertainment Group LLC, an award-winning, California-based animation production company whose credits include a PinkPanther 40th anniversary music video, the feature Bullet Proof Monk and the animated series Stargate Infinity.

“Adam Taylor’s highly imaginative creative talent and fresh artistic style coupled with Paul Rugg’s amazing and wildly funny storytelling will make for a uniquely entertaining animated series that we look forward to bringing to the global marketplace,” says Donna Friedman Meir, president of Kids’ Programming and Production for NGT&F.
