The Vancouver-based computer animation house behind the groundbreaking CG TV series Reboot, MTV’s Spider-Man and DIC Ent.’s upcoming CG Inspector Gadget special, is heading to Cannes, France with three new animated projects. Mainframe Ent. will be at MIPTV to showcase Beat Freaks, Binomes and Popeye’s Voyage: The Quest for Pappy.
The music-infused Beat Freaks will feature a playful group of young monsters who start a rock band and begin to realize they can be whatever they want to be in life. The 26×11 series is created and co-produced by Spin Ent. of Toronto.
Binomes, a 26×11 preschool series, takes young viewers inside a computer where mischievous characters live and work.
Cartoondom’s favorite sailorman gets a 3D makeover in the holiday special Popeye’s Voyage: The Quest for Pappy. Acclaimed actor Kathy Bates (Misery, About Schmidt) lends her voice to the role of a villainous sea hag in a story that has the spinach-guzzling seafarer take to the ocean on a daring mission to rescue the father who abandoned him as a child. The show will be distributed by Mainframe in the U.K., Australia and Canada.
In addition, Mainframe will be shopping the three-part, CG television miniseries and direct-to-video feature Tony Hawk S.H.A.D.E., built around the skateboarding legend. All worldwide rights are available.
