U.K. family entertainment media company Komixx Entertainment Ltd.—makers of the new kids’ animated series Toby’s Travelling Circus, and partner company with Random House Children’s Publishers UK—has opened its first international office in Los Angeles as part of its expansion into the U.S. market.

With Toby’s Travelling Circus now regularly attracting an audience of over 2 million viewers in the U.K., Komixx is setting its sights on the American TV, film and gaming industries with a focus on high-end drama for teens. Komixx also announces it has joined with Great Guns to explore content for the games industry by extending its franchise of established intellectual property.

“The model for IP and rights-owning companies in our segment has shifted considerably,” says Komixx joint CEO and head of film & TV, Andrew Cole-Bulgin. “The focus needs to be on successful franchises with potential to create not just long-term broadcast success, but retail success on a global scale. Working with Great Guns, a company with a long reputation for innovation, high caliber creative solutions and superb production values, was viewed as a natural extension to the work we are doing in the U.K.”
