With its 8:30 p.m. debut on Friday, Sept. 6, Nickelodeon’s Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius rocketed to a first place win with kids in the galaxy of broadcast and basic-cable television.

Based on the Oscar-nominated 2001 CG feature of the same name, the series pulled in a 9.3/33 rating and share, the highest for a premiere in Nickelodeon’s network’s 23-year history. ChalkZone, which debuted on the cable channel last March, was the previous record holder with an 8.6/27.

Judging by the 4.3 million viewers who tuned in for Jimmy’s small-screen debut, Nickelodeon can add another title to its list of hits, which includes SpongeBob SquarePants, Rugrats and The Wild Thornberrys.

The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius is produced at DNA Productions in Dallas, Texas.
