The digital cable network ¡Sorpresa! will meet the growing need for Spanish language children’s programming in the U.S. with its launch on March 15. Carriage deals are in place on Time Warner Cable, Cox and the National Cable TV Cooperative.
The channel will broadcast 24 hours a day, with animation and other pre-school entertainment airing during the morning and afternoon. The late evening schedule will target tweens with comedy, talk shows, game shows, music programs and movies. ¡Sorpresa! has acquired award-winning programs from top children’s producers, as well as Hispanic, Latin and Spanish media companies.
¡Sorpresa! is distributed by Firestone Communications, a newly formed privately held company which has acquired the assets of The Hispanic Television Network (HTVN), a Dallas-Ft. Worth cable outlet launched in 1999.
