The Third Annual Pixie Awards, honoring outstanding work in animation, effect...

We recently spoke with Jim Henson Co. CEOs Brian and Lisa Henson, and Skrumps creator John Chandler about their new animated property and what’s on the horizon for Farscape, the SCI FI Channel series that ended its run in 2003 but is far from over. Head over to AniMagTV (www.animag.tv) to watch the exclusive interview and behind-the-scenes footage from Comic-Con.
The Hensons and Chandler greeted fans during a Comic-Con panel, which featured a live demonstration of the Henson Digital Performance Studio (HDPS), which allows puppeteers to animate CG characters in real-time. While this technology represents the latest stage of the company’s evolution, Brian Henson assured fans that there is still room for felt and fleece puppetry.
The Hensons offered a first look at Tinsel Town, a new puppet web series about a bull named Samson Knight and a pig named Bobby Vegan, a mismatched gay couple living in Hollywood. The episode was a big hit with the audience and is sure to garner a lot of attention when it hits the web. Also drawing uproarious applause was a surprise appearance by Farscape star Ben Browder, who put his hand up a puppet to help out with a live demo of Puppet Up: Uncensored, a live show the Jim Henson Co. puts on monthly in Hollywood.
