Henson Producing More Dinosaur Train

The Jim Henson Co. will produce a second season of Dinosaur Train, its award-winning animated series for preschoolers.

The new season of 26 11-minute episodes will begin airing in fall 2011 on PBS Kids in the United States. Henson co-produces the series with Sparky Animation of Singapore.

During its first season, Dinosaur Train was named as a Parents’ Choice Recommended TV series, and the Dinosaur Train website received a Parents’ Choice Silver Award and was the recipient of a prestigious 2010 Prix Jeunesse Award.

Season 2 will also bring new games to the award winning website.

Created by Craig Bartlett (Hey Arnold!), Dinosaur Train embraces the fascination that preschoolers have with both dinosaurs and trains while encouraging basic scientific thinking and skills. Each episode includes animated segments with live-action sequences featuring a paleontologist who brings to life the show’s natural science and natural history curriculum for preschoolers, giving specific facts about dinosaurs and comparing their features to animals of today.

Bartlett, Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford will executive produce the new season. The Jim Henson Co. will continue to oversee all ancillary exploitation of the property, including licensing and merchandising. PBS will handle DVD distribution to consumer and education markets.
