Actor John Goodman, often recruited by Disney to voice such animated fare as The Emperor’s New Groove, Monsters, Inc. and The Jungle Book II, will do some work for the competition. According to Variety, The former Roseanne co-star will return to TV as the lead voice in DreamWorks’ computer animated NBC series Father of the Pride.
In Father of the Pride, scheduled to debut in prime-time in the fall of 2004, Goodman will play Larry, the patriarch of a family of white lions employed in Siegfried and Roy’s Las Vegas magic act. Also on board for the voice cast are Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Orlando Jones (Drumline) and comedy legend Carl Reiner (Ocean’s 11).
Late Night with Conan O’Brien alum Jonathan Groff and DreamWorks partner Jeffrey Katzenberg will exec produce, along with Jon Pollack (Just Shoot Me). The Simpsons and King of the Hill director Klay Hall tells Animation Magazine Online that he will supervise production.
