The team behind Comedy Central’s cancelled primetime comedy Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist are back on the casting couch, this time for Fox. The network, in association with Touchstone Television, has recruited Jonathan Katz and Tom Snyder to write and exec. produce a pilot for an untitled animated comedy.
The project is one of many hopefuls vying for a spot in Fox’s popular primetime cartoon lineup, which has been shortened with the cancellation of Futurama. While the network has picked up both The Simpsons and King of the Hill for a few more seasons, it is preparing for a time when those runs reach their end.
"Pitch-O-Rama," Fox’s contest to find new animation properties and talent among the general public, is also part of that initiative to keep Sunday nights animated, as is the hiring of Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane to create a pilot.
