Having spent seven years on CBS’ Late Show With David Letterman, Emmy-winning producer Robert Morton is anything but green. He will, however, be seeing a lot of green as part of WB Network’s Drew Carey’s Green Screen Show, a new series that combines improv comedy with animation.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Morton will exec produce Green Screen alongside series creator Carey and Ron Diamond of commercial production studio Acme Filmworks. The show will also enlist the talents of 50 animation directors from around the world to create animated elements to be incorporated during postproduction.
Animation directors being considered to participate, according to The Reporter, include Eric Goldberg (Looney Tunes: Back in Action), Aardman Animation’s Peter Lord (Chicken Run) and animators from Cartoon Station in Dublin, Ireland. Acme’s in-house team will also contribute to the blend of hand-drawn animation, 2D computer animation and 3D CG work.
Drew Carey’s Green Screen Show is slated to join WB’s fall lineup on Thursdays at 8:30 p.m.
