The Hollywood Reporter and Daily Variety bring word that sitcom star and improv aficionado Drew Carey is blending animation with elements of his hit show Who’s Line is it Anyway? for a new series that has just got a pilot green light from The WB Network.
Titled Green Screen, the show will feature actors performing in front of a green screen. Audience suggestions will then be brought to life using various styles of animation in post-production. When the show airs, the live action and the animation will be composited to bring a new dimension to the improvisational experience.
Though not a Whose Line spin-off, the show will feature Carey cohorts Colin Mochrie, Brad Sherwood, Greg Proops and Kathy Kinney. Jeff Davis, Charles Esten, Jonathan Mangum and Sean Masterson will also star, with Ryan Stiles popping in as guest.
Created and exec produced by Carey, Green Screen will be produced by The WB’s Michigan J Prods. and animation studio Acme Filmworks, whose CEO, Ron Diamond, also serves as exec producer.
