DreamWorks Jumps Through Hoops for CG NBC Series

The Hollywood Reporter brings news that DreamWorks and NBC are working together on a primetime CG series that humorously explores the lives of a family of white lions performing in Siegfried & Roy’s Las Vegas show. The half-hour family comedy series Father of the Pride is slated for a fall 2004 debut.

DreamWorks’ Jeffrey Katzenberg reportedly conceived the project as a feature 18 months ago, but felt the story was better suited for television. NBC and other networks have been courting the studio for a primetime CG series for some time. Seinfeld scribe Peter Mehlman and Late Night with Conan O’Brien writer Jonathan Groff are set to pen the pilot episode.
