Australian game developer Krome Studios has joined forces with DPS Film Roman to create animated television and DVD productions featuring characters from the best-selling videogame TY the Tasmanian Tiger.
A character-based action adventure game, TY the Tasmanian Tiger casts gamers in the role of the title marsupial as he adventures through the land down under on a mission to overcome his past to save his family. Krome Studios is currently developing the highly anticipated sequel, TY the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue, scheduled for release this fall for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube and Game Boy Advance.
DPS Film Roman CEO John Hyde comments, "It is rare to have video game characters developed for the pre-teen market that are suitable for the crossover, but when they do, it can be a phenomenon. We see this as an opportunity to grow an established character beyond its gaming fan base."
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, DPS Film Roman, is the independent animation company known for the hit shows The Simpsons and King of The Hill, as well as Showtime’s Free For All. Owned by IDT Ent., the studio also produces Saturday morning and syndicated kids’ animation including X-Men: Evolution, as well as the SCI FI Channel’s adult 3D comedy series Tripping the Rift.
Krome Studios is now developing a King Arthur game to be published by Konami Digital Entertainment America and Buena Vista Interactive. Other titles in its catalog include Sunny Garcia Surfing, Championship Surfing, Extremely Goofy Skateboarding, Barbie Beach Vacation and Jimmy Neutron: Jet Fusion.
