Disney XD is going HD on Sky

The channel, which describes itself as “boy-focused, girl-inclusive,” will launch in a HD version Oct. 18 on Sky in the United Kingdom.

The HD version will be available throughout the U.K. and in Ireland, bringing the number of HD channels Sky offers to more than 50.

The channel broadcasts such popular animated series as Phineas & Ferb and Kick Buttowski.

“We’re delighted to add Disney XD HD to our unrivalled HD offering which now reaches more than 3 million HD subscribers,” says Rob Webster, director of BSkyB’s Commercial Group. “We are committed to continue to work with high-quality content partners to ensure we carry on delivering the very best HD service on the market.”
