Disney Brews Up Deal for Mainframe’s Scary Godmother

Walt Disney Television Int’l (WDTV-I) has acquired broadcast rights to Mainframe Entertainment Inc.’s animated Halloween special Scary Godmother Halloween Spooktakular. The show will air on Disney Channels in Asia, Latin America, Italy and Germany.

Based on the popular comics and children’s books by award-winning artist and writer Jill Thompson, Scary Godmother is a whimsical CG animated story that follows the first trick-or-treating adventure of young Hannah Marie. Unhappy to be saddled with Hannah, her cousin cooks up a scheme to frighten her, which backfires when Hannah gets help from her Scary Godmother and her quirky monster friends.

Scary Godmother is scheduled to premiere in Canada this Halloween on YTV. A ‘sneak peek’ trailer for the special has been posted on the Mainframe Ent. web site, www.mainframe.ca.

Mainframe recently struck a chord with young viewers with its direct-to-video CG feature Barbie as Rapunzel and is producing the new Spider-Man animated series for MTV. The company employs approximately 150 artists, animators, technicians and production personnel.

With 84 branded weekly shows broadcast in 60 countries, WDTV-I’s programming reaches 600 million viewers around the world each week.
