Designer SquarePants to Benefit Kids with AIDS
Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants serves as the inspiration for 16 of the world’s most prestigious fashion designers to create Designer SquarePants. Giorgio Armani, Jeffrey Banks, Kenneth Cole, Oscar de la Renta, Mossimo Giannulli, Carolina Herrera, Sean John, Betsey Johnson, Donna Karan, Catherine Malandrino, Nicole Miller, Percy Miller, Rocawear, Vivienne Tam, John Varvatos and Diane von Furstenberg will all participate in the charity event to benefit pediatric AIDS research.
Online auction site eBay will host the full roster of designs from Sept. 19-30. Interested parties can go to www.eBay.com/spongebobauction and bid on their favorites. All proceeds will benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, whose 10th-Anniversary Kids for Kids Celebrity Carnival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20th, at New York’s Industria Superstudio and Diane von Furstenberg’s Studio. Celebrities from the worlds of fashion, film, TV, sports, art and society will come together to volunteer their time as "heroes" to work carnival-styled game booths and help raise funds for the cause. In addition to interacting with their favorite celebrities, guests will be treated to the Nickelodeon SpongeBob SquarePants Fashion Show, an array of culinary treats from some of New York’s finest restaurants and a surprise musical performance. Nickelodeon will help underwrite the event, which is expected to raise $1.2 million.
