DC Entertainment, which includes DC Comics, has unveiled a new look for its corporate identity and offered a slightly deeper peek at its upcoming Cartoon Network block.
The highlight of the revamp is a new logo that will begin appearing on DC comics, books and websites starting in March. The logo was created in collaboration with Landor Associates and replaces the previous “swirl” logo that was rolled out in 2005.
The logo is customizable, allowing the publisher to tailor it to specific characters and series. Here’s some examples:
“It’s a new era at DC Entertainment and the new look reflects a dynamic, bold approach while at the same time celebrates the company’s rich heritage and robust portfolio of characters,” stated John Rood, EVP of Sales, Marketing and Business Development for DC Entertainment. “It was just a few months ago that Superman, Batman and many of our other Super Heroes were updated when we launched DC Comics – The New 52 and now it’s time to do the same for the company’s identity while remaining true to the power of storytelling which is still at the heart of DC Entertainment.”
As for DC Nation, the company unveiled a new commercial for the Cartoon Network block. The block will include episodes of the new Green Lantern: The Animated Series (read more about it here) and new episodes of the ongoing series Young Justice. It also will feature some great-looking animated shorts featuring DC characters. Take a look:
